No Jeremy Irons, No.

After watching and quite enjoying Vadim Jean's Hogfather (2006), it is a short leap to The Color Of Magic (2008). But no.

The Patrician has to have style and the evil-coolth of, well, the Patrician.
Jeremy Irons, (whom we otherwise adore) is styled into a sticky and mischievous rich bloke rather than a distant and awe-inspiring bastard. The 'Don't let me detain' you, for instance. What is that? The delivery is too self-conscious, too deliberate to be a convincing, almost disdainful dismissal - entirely different from the Miranda Priestly style self-assuredness.

Finally, that hideous shiny cape-thing cannot be assassin's black.

But, Pratchett is in the film. And we love him. So that's that.
