It is terribly sad that ever so often arrogant dismissiveness passes off as 'intellectual' opinion.
It gets my goat when these people (bloggers, talkers, random acquaintances... you know...) believe whole-heartedly that their snobbish, disdainful opinions - about the world, poverty, religion, politics - are truly educated, insightful commentary.
Cynicism reeks on the advantaged.
Smart mouthing is not being incisive. And trash-talk is not wit, really.

I somehow like to believe that insight is triggered as much by emotion as by the mind. For all the education, grace, open mindedness and intellect that a person may possess, all conversation is driven by the state of mind and impulsiveness.
Of late, I find I am inclined to judge impulsively out of sheer habit and then discard the judgment never to revise it at all...

oh certainly - insight is driven emotion as much as it is the mind as. And conversations are of course a result of your current state of mind.
But as I've said before I find that it is one thing to be discerning and another, altogether to be judgemental. Can't stand for the latter, I'm afraid.
